Another foreign field ...

Albert Cleaver died in Italy in 1944, just prior to the great Battle for Monte Cassino and the assault on the "Gustav" Line. Somewhat remarkably, after all these years, I have managed to find a first hand account of his death. Read about the events on the War Memorial page.
